How to Recycle Your Sleek’e Empties (and All Your Other Hair Empties Too)
✅ Step 1: Use It All Up
The first rule of recycling: no product left behind. Make sure your bottle is totally empty.
Sleek’e Tip: Add a splash of water, give it a shake, and use the final bit as a last rinse. Zero waste, ultra-sleek results.
♻️ Step 2: Know Your Plastic Type
All Sleek’e shampoo, conditioner, and treatment bottles are made of PET #1 plastic, one of the most recyclable plastics out there.
PET #1 (Polyethylene Terephthalate) is accepted by nearly all curbside recycling programs. Just check the bottom of the bottle for the triangle symbol with a “1” inside.
🚫 Step 3: Remove Pumps and Sprayers
Here’s the tricky part:
While your bottle is recyclable, the pump or spray top is not. Pumps are made with mixed materials (like metal springs and layered plastics) that aren’t recyclable curbside.
-
Do this: Unscrew the pump or sprayer and toss it in the trash.
-
Keep this: If your cap is plastic and matches the bottle, it can stay on (check local rules to be sure).
💦 Step 4: Quick Rinse
Give your bottle a quick rinse to remove any product residue. No need for soap, just enough to clear out the inside.
🗺️ Step 5: Check Local Guidelines
Recycling rules vary by city. While PET #1 is widely accepted, it's still smart to double-check what your local facility allows.

Bonus: What to Do With Non-Recyclables
If you have items like:
-
Pumps
-
Silicone applicators
-
Non-plastic caps
You can still keep them out of landfills using a mail-in program like TerraCycle. They accept beauty packaging from all brands (and all types).
