How to Take Care of Your Remy Hair Extensions [Updated December 2021]

The Sleek’e Hair extensions are the perfect solution for women who want to extend their hair, have a hair more volume and radically change your look immediately. If we usually take care of our hair with a lot of attention, when we wear hair extensions we must take care of them in a unique way. Here are a few essential steps to keep your new locks looking good.

ALWAYS CUT YOUR EXTENSIONS BEFORE WEARING

It doesn't exactly influence the life of your hair extensions, but it does contribute a lot to how they look on you! See the difference:

WASH THE HAIR EXTENSIONS

Hair extensions should always be clean. Some tips for washing your extensions:

  • Before washing, brush them to undo possible tangles.
  • Wash from the crown to the tips.
  • Use only warm water, since hot water can damage the appearance of the extensions.
  • Use a mild, high-quality shampoo. There are even specific products for extensions! Consult with your hairstylist about them.
  • Use a mild conditioner and a conditioning mask to complete the process, then rinse with lukewarm water.

BRUSH YOUR HAIR EXTENSIONS WITH CARE

It is essential to brush the hair extensions before you wear them. Do it with a brush with soft and wide bristles. Remy human hair extensions are very soft and can be damaged easily.

When you brush them, avoid pulling them! Remember: these nice locks will not grow back, unlike your regular hair! Start by brushing them from the tips and work your way upwards towards the root.

DRY GENTLY

The heat is a great enemy for hair extensions, so it is preferable to let the hair dry in the air and not abuse the use of dryers, straightening irons and curling irons.

HYDRATE THE EXTENSIONS

To make your hair extensions last longer, use a good conditioner. You should condition your locks (both real and artificial ones!) every time you wash them. Remember that hair extensions do not receive the natural oils your hair gets from the root.

PROTECT FROM EXTERNAL FACTORS

You should also protect your hair extensions from sun, chlorine water in the pool, and seawater. Use some anti-chlorine product or sunscreen to protect your new hair extensions. We advise you that when you get out of the water, gently brush your hair and unravel it completely.
